The silvery soft sounds of the hammered dulcimer have delighted musicians and their listeners for centuries. The chromatic hammered dulcimer which we build is also known as the “Salzburger Hackbrett”. Besides its role in Alpine folk music, it is also ideally suited for Early Music, particularly for Renaissance pieces, but it is becoming ever more popular for modern music as well. Discover the resonant soul of this instrument! The art of building hammered dulcimers relies upon producing a soundboard with a mellow, free sound and a short decay. For added durability and stability, the tuning pins are attached to high quality, soundpost plywood. The construction of the bridges and the convex soundboard guarantee stability and consistent tuning. For the soundboard the customer can choose between beech plywood or solid spruce.
